Salehi: Iran preparing to build two nuclear facilities with China

TEHRAN - Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has said the Islamic Republic is preparing to sign an agreement with China to build two nuclear facilities in Iran.

During Chinese President Xi Jinping’s trip to Iran, the issue will be discussed more, Ali Akbar Salehi told reporters on Tuesday.

He also said that some European and Asian countries, including Japan and China, are ready to cooperate with Iran in constructing nuclear plants.

He also said Iran will start construction of a nuclear medicine hospital soon, which will be one of the greatest hospitals in the West Asia.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to arrive in Tehran on January 22 at the head of a high ranking economic and political delegation.

The July 2015 nuclear deal, which went into force on Saturday, has provided the ground for nuclear cooperation between Iran and the 5+1 group - the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU Foreign Policy chief Federica Mogherini issued a joint statement on Saturday in Vienna declaring the implementation of the deal.
